The author, painter and school officer Adalbert Stifter, who was born in Oberplan (southern Bohemia) in 1805, lived in Linz for many years. His former house was redesigned and houses the Upper Austrian literature museum on the second floor.
The visitor strolls through several rooms presented in a multimedia show, starting with the medieval minnesinger Walther von der Vogelweide to contemporary authors. A memorial room is installed in his former workroom with authentic furniture, handwritten manuscripts and pictures.
The StifterHaus also offers altering exhibitions, a library comprising 17000 books and the Upper Austrian atlas of dialects.
