Adalbert Stifter Institute of the Province of Upper Austria. Adalbert Stifter, born in 1805 in Oberplan (South Bohemia), spent many years of his life in Linz, where he worked as a provincial civil servant, painter and writer.
Stifter's residence and death house was converted into the StifterHaus and houses the Upper Austrian Literature Museum on the first floor. Museum of Literature. From the medieval Minnegesang of Walther von der Vogelweide to contemporary authors, the visitor wanders through several multimedia-prepared time rooms. The former study is a memorial room with authentic furniture, manuscripts and pictures.
Changing special exhibitions, a library with around 17,000 volumes and the Upper Austrian Dialect Atlas complete the StifterHaus offer.
