On the popular Danube Cycle Path Passau/Vienna-Budapest, which leads you directly to the inn "Gasthof zum Schiffmeister“ and through the village, you can experience cycling tours through the Danube valley. The dammed Danube for the power plant “Kraftwerk Aschach” offers perfect conditions for angling. At the public beach of the river you can enjoy the refreshing water of the Danube. The pier, directly in front of the house, is the starting point for tours on the Danube to the “The Three Rivers City” Passau and Linz until Vienna.
 
The very cosy inn “Zum Schiffermeister” offers a variety of arrangements with different emphases. In summer you can relax in the relaxed beer garden which features a chestnut tree and is located directly at the Danube. There you can enjoy very good Austrian quality wines from our “Vinothek & Mostothek” and additionally, local delicacies (rustic warm and cold dishes) as well as quality products from woolly pigs.
 
Old buildings, whose names can be derived from “Schiffmeister”, are very common at the Danube. They origin in the historic name for the “Nauführer”, today known as captains, of the ships on the Danube. In times where the traffic on the river was dominated by large rafts, “Schiffmeister” houses were inns with additional agriculture. This is also the case for the inn “Zum Schiffmeister”, which was in times of the old Danube shipping a loading station. Today, the family Viehböck continues the hospitality tradition of this place – an attached wine house “Vinothek” and “Mostothek” included!
