About us
ROSSO di Acqua e Sole - what does that mean? Two terms that even Italians can't really put into context. ROSSO means red. Red, like the colour. Acqua e Sole is translated as "water and sun". So a simple translation would mean "red of water and sun", which is difficult to put into context. However, there is a story, or rather an idea, that provides the solution.
Let's start in reverse order, with "Acqua e Sole".
In the summer of 2012, I once again visited our friends, Franco and Ida, with their two sons in Ascoli Piceno. When I arrived in the late afternoon, Franco was standing among the perennials in his vegetable garden. He gestured to me, picked a large, ripe tomato, took it in his hand, held it up to the sky and theatrically, as Italians like to do, he shouted: "Vedi, Ingmar, questo pomodoro ha visto soltanto acqua e sole, e basta!" ("Look Ingmar, this tomato has only seen water and sun - and that's it!")
This scene with Franco symbolises "Acqua e Sole". It is a metaphor for unadulterated, non-industrialised products that come exclusively from Aziende Agricole, manufactories or family businesses. This idea is our fundamental understanding and our promise both for the catering sector of the osteria, the café, the bar, as well as for the "Mercato" food trade.
"Rosso" stands for Carne (perfectly cured fresh meat), Pomodoro (field-ripened tomatoes from the south of Italy) and Vino (wines full of character) and especially for the joy and enthusiasm that every "ROSSISTA" brings to their work for the customers.
These are two separate metaphors that express our promise to our customers.
We hope to win you over to our idea and look forward to your visit!
Ingmar Goetzloff and the entire ROSSO team. (the Rossisti!)
