Guided tour of the parish church and the Loreto Chapel

The church was built in the first half of the 13th century in the Romanesque style.

It is the only one to have a church interior painted in its entirety by Giovanni Carlone.

The mighty church, visible from afar, was first mentioned in documents in 1220-1240.
The extraordinary location may also have been decisive for the early foundation of the parish seat from Passau on this very spot.

The art-historical significance, the baroqueization was carried out at the end of the 17th century, lies in particular in the discovery that the entire painting was done by GIOVANNI CARLONE (1697). The stucco work was created by his brother.

With the uncovering of this painting, the local parish church has a work by the painter Carlone that is unique in its kind.

Also worth seeing is the restored 17th century Loreto Chapel next to the parish church, which was modeled on the "Flying House" of Loreto in Italy.
