For centuries, the sandstone hills to the west of Linz have been used for beer and wine cellars. During the Second World War, existing cellars were converted into huge air-raid shelters, drawing on the exploitation of concentration camp prisoners housed in the tunnels for their construction.
As part of contemporary history tours with specially trained Austria Guides, it is possible to visit part of the Linz air-raid shelters.Guided tour with an Austria Guide in various languages
