St. Mary's Cathedral Linz

The neo-Gothic Mariendom is the largest church in Austria and an important landmark. It was consecrated on 29 April 1924 and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2024.
Exciting guided tours allow visitors to experience the cathedral up close and explore normally inaccessible areas and rooms from the crypt to the tower.

The following experiences are available:

Window into the country (1 h) - max. 20 people
The stained glass windows in the cathedral are like a big picture book, they tell stories about people, about the cathedral building, about the history of the city and the country. The highlight is the tour of the interior gallery at a height of around 14 m, where we can get up close to the colorful stained glass windows.

Mariendom experience (1h) - max. 25 people
In an exciting exploration tour, we learn a lot about the secrets of the cathedral and its history. In the crypt, we visit the tombs of the bishops and the famous and largest nativity scene in Austria by Sebastian Osterrieder from 1908.

High up in the cathedral (1 h) - max. 20 people
The path leads up spiral staircases to the interior gallery, which offers a unique view of the huge church interior. Further up to the bell ringing and out through the attic - along the roof - to the outside gallery.

By the light of a flashlight (1 h) - max. 20 people
Exploring St. Mary's Cathedral by torchlight in the evening is an exciting experience for children and adults alike. The mysticism of the building can be experienced in a very special way in the light of the flashlights.

Tower ascent (45 min) - max. 20 people
395 steps up to the tower gallery at a height of 68 m with an incomparable view of the city of Linz. Visit to the Rudigierhalle with tower rosette and the only completely preserved large bell chime.
