The family cycle tour along the Danube Cycle Path is an unforgettable vacation experience for young and old. On selected, particularly family-friendly stages, you cycle along the Danube from Passau to Linz through varied natural and cultural landscapes. The mostly flat and well-maintained paths are ideal for children, who can manage shorter daily stages or ride along in a bike trailer. There are numerous opportunities for breaks, games and discoveries along the way. Comfortable accommodation, luggage transport and well thought-out organization make this cycle tour particularly relaxed - perfect for families who want to be active together and enjoy themselves at the same time.Day 1, Passau
Arrival in the three-river city of Passau. Parking for an extra charge at the Donau Touristik Infopoint, at the arrival hotel or in the multi-storey parking lot at the goods station (to be booked and paid for locally approx. € 10 per car/day). Issue of travel documents and collection of rental bikes. Overnight stay in a 3☼☼☼hotel in Passau.
Day 2, Schlögener Schlinge (18 km)From Passau, take the boat to Kasten or Engelhartszell (payable locally), where you can visit the monastery or the "Mini Danube Water Experience" (=Donauspielplatz; open daily from 08:00 to 19:00, € 4.50 per person; children € 3.00). At Engelhartszell, you cross the Danube via the Jochenstein power station and cycle along the left bank to Schlögen with the famous Schlögener Schlinge. Overnight stay in a 3☼☼☼hotel.

Day 3, Schlögen - cycle tour (25 km)
Take the bike ferry (approx. € 2,- per person on site) to the other side of the river and from there on to Freizell. There you cycle over the bridge to Oberranna to the Roman excavations. Either on the same route or on the southern bank of the Danube (slightly hilly) back to Schlögen. Overnight stay as on the previous day.

Day 4, Linz (40 km)
Cycle tour through the uninhabited valley near Kaiserau to Aschach and Ottensheim. From there, take the regional train to the provincial capital (payable locally; approx. € 8 per person + € 4 bike ticket).
Linz - the capital of Upper Austria offers something special for our young and old guests.
Overnight stay in a 4☼☼☼☼ hotel in Linz.
Family tips:
Day 5, Enns/Mauthausen (20/38 km, 20 minutes by train)
Cycle along the Danube cycle path on the left bank to the Ausee lake, along the Danube cycle path on the left bank; during the ride you can make a short stop at the Pleschinger See lake and visit the Pamuki family park (10:00 to 22:00) (one-way distance approx. 20 km).
Option 1: Cycle on to Enns + 9 km (oldest town in Austria, Lauriacum Museum and basilica), return by train Enns-Linz; approx. 20 minutes by train; approx. € 5 per person + € 2 bike ticket payable on site).
Option 2: Cycle tour on to Enns (oldest town in Austria) and then Mauthausen + 18 km (memorial site of the former concentration camp), back to Enns and by train Enns-Linz; approx. 20 minutes by train; approx. € 5 per person + € 2 bike ticket, payable on site). Overnight stay as the day before.

Day 6, journey home
After breakfast by train to Passau (2nd class, free choice of train) and individual journey home.
