On the classic route along the Danube, you cycle through varied landscapes with gentle riverside paths, idyllic villages and cultural highlights such as Linz and the Wachau. The route is mostly flat, well developed and largely car-free - perfect for leisure cyclists and beginners. You stay overnight in simple but cozy guesthouses and inns and benefit from excellent value for money, including luggage transport and breakfast.Day 1, arrival in Passau

Day 2, Wesenufer/Aschach (40/69 km)Via Obernzell and Engelhartszell (abbey) to the natural wonder of the Schlögener Schlinge or on to Aschach. Overnight stay in a 3☼☼☼hotel.
Day 3, Linz (60/29 km)The route leads romantically through the sparsely populated Engtal valley to Aschach, past Eferding (castle and parish church) and on to the EU Capital of Culture 2009. An extra night allows you to enjoy a sightseeing tour including vouchers worth € 20 for many stores, cafés and restaurants from € 62 per person in a double room. Overnight stay in a 3☼☼☼hotel or 4☼☼☼☼hotel.
Day 4, Wallsee/Au (45/30 km)Today you cycle along the Danube cycle path through the Machland region past the Abwinden power station to Mauthausen and your destination for the day. Overnight stay in a 3☼☼☼hotel.
Day 5, Maria Taferl/Marbach (49/56 km)You cycle through the Strudengau region with the romantic Hößgang to Ybbs and on to your destination for the day, the second largest pilgrimage site in Austria (Maria Taferl), or alternatively to Marbach. Overnight stay in a 3☼☼☼hotel.
Day 6, Krems/Traismauer (54/69 km)Along the cycle path to Melk (imposing abbey) and then to the famous Wachau wine-growing region and on to the day's destination. Overnight stay in a 3☼☼☼hotel.
Day 7, Vienna (63/78 km)The route takes you to the flower town of Tulln and on to Klosterneuburg. There you have the option of returning the rental bikes and taking the S-Bahn (every half hour) to the center of Vienna or alternatively cycling on to the hotel. Overnight stay in a 3☼☼☼hotel or 4☼☼☼☼hotel.
Day 8, end of the cycle tourReturn bus journey from Hotel Vienna every Saturday, remaining days by train (2nd class/free choice of train, every 2 hours, no transfer to/from the station). Return transfer of own bikes on return day Friday to Monday with drop-off the day before in Vienna + € 38. Individual extension possible.
