Day 1, arrival in Passau

Pick up the rental bikes (if booked) at the arrival hotel. Parking can be booked and paid for on site (approx. € 10 per car/day).

Past Engelhartszell to the Schlögener Schlinge. Through the sparsely populated Engtal valley to Aschach and Eferding. By Rübenexpress (hourly service, approx. € 8,- on site) to Linz.

To St. Florian (individual visit to the monastery) and Enns (optional coffee & cake in the town square, payable locally). Continue to the day's destination.

Through the Strudengau to Maria Taferl, the famous place of pilgrimage with its baroque basilica (one of the most beautiful churches in Austria), or on to Marbach.

Continue to Melk (abbey). From here you have the option of taking a short boat trip to Spitz (payable locally). Continue through the vineyards via Dürnstein to Krems or Traismauer.

Via the flower town of Tulln (garden exhibition) along the Vienna Woods to Klosterneuburg. Return the bikes and continue by train (every half hour, approx. € 5,- payable locally) to the capital of Austria.

Active version: Cycle on to the hotel (+16 km)

Return journey by bus from Hotel Wien every Saturday, remaining days by train (2nd class/free choice of train, every 2 hours, no transfer to/from the station). Return transfer of own bikes on return day Friday to Monday with drop-off the day before in Vienna + € 38,-
