Festival for art in digital contexts and public spaces.
For the fourth time, the festival for art in digital contexts and public spaces is transforming a location in Linz into a freely accessible art space. After the Donaulände (2019), the Mühlkreisbahnhof (2021) and the Hafenviertel (2023), the Schlossberg with the Schlosspark, Schlossmuseum, Rosengarten, Keplerwiese, Schlossbergstollen and Martinskirche will become a five-hectare festival venue in 2026.FMR 26 is dedicated to four themes: Digital Afterlife and Immortality, Future Archaeology and Digital Artifacts, Digital Deceleration, Isolation, and the New Idyll, and AI Societies, Power Structures, and Resistance. The focus is on the question of transience and duration in the digital age - based on the festival title, which is derived from the Greek "ephḗmeros" ("transient, fleeting").
Around 30 works of media art, digital art and internet art will be on display. The full program with lectures, talks, performances and concerts will be published in April 2026.
The opening will take place on 3rd June, 2026 at 6 p.m. with greetings, opening tours and an opening night. During the five days of the festival, visitors can expect daily tours, performances, talks and a concert night with experimental electronic music.
The festival is organized by the LINZ FMR association in cooperation with Linz's art and cultural institutions and with the support of the city, state, federal government and numerous partners.
