Closure of the Danube cycle path R1 int the Pyburger Au area

A section of the Danube Cycle Path R1 on the south side of the Danube – in the Pyburger Au area – will be closed from 25 August 2025 until the end of 2026 due to work to reinforce the piers of the Mauthausen Danube Bridge.

The north side of the Danube is only affected by a short push section of approx. 150 m.

Coming from Enns (Pyburg ferry exit) towards Lower Austria: 
Follow the signposted diversion on site, which will ensure unhindered continuation to Lower Austria.

Coming from Lower Austria towards Enns: 
Follow the signposted diversion on site to the Pyburg ferry. If you wish to cross the Danube via the Mauthausen Danube Bridge, please note the turn-off at the diversion towards the ferry.

Important information:

• The Mauthausen Danube Bridge is open to traffic at all times, so it is possible to cross from the south to the north side of the Danube.
• The south side access to the Enns-Pyburg-Mauthausen ferry on the R1 is open.
