Brucknerfest Linz 2026. A breath of fresh air.
Songs of nightingales, quail and cuckoos, a murmuring brook, lightning and thunder, pastoral melodies: Under the direction of Markus Poschner, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz brings the sound of nature into the concert hall with Beethoven's 6th Symphony "Pastorale". The nature lover and enthusiastic walker Beethoven set his impressions of country life to music, which ultimately come together to form a magnificent hymn. The "Pastorale" is part of a long tradition: musical pastoral scenes were already extremely popular in Baroque music, which Francis Poulenc, for example, took up in his Concert champêtre (Rural Concerto) for harpsichord and orchestra, completed in 1928: a shimmering neoclassical homage to French Baroque music. The harpsichord virtuoso Jean Rondeau interprets this work, which oscillates between old and new in an exciting way, whose pastoral mood is contrasted by Claude Debussy's La Mer, another famous sound-painting depiction of nature in which you can literally taste the salty sea air.Untere Donaulände 7, 4010 Linz
