At last! The Brucknerfest Linz 2026 is officially opened with the traditional ceremony.
The Swedish conductor Kajsa Boström makes her debut at the podium of the Upper Austrian Youth Symphony Orchestra with music by her great-grandfather, the Swedish national composer Ture Rangström, who conducted the first ever performance of a Bruckner symphony in Sweden with Bruckner's Symphony No. 8 in C minor in Gothenburg in 1922. Against this backdrop, Rangström's music will enter into a dialog with Bruckner, whose setting of August von Platen's Mein Herz und deine Stimme will be performed in an orchestrated version - sung by Rafael Fingerlos. This is preceded by the world premiere of a new work by Thomas Doss from Linz, who explicitly explores Bruckner's world of sound. The crowning finale is Bruckner's orchestration of the first movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's "Pathétique" Sonata, which he put to paper in Linz in September 1862.Untere Donaulände 7, 4010 Linz
