SPIRITUAL HIKING ON THE DONAUSTEIG:

Enns lies on the Upper Austria section of the Way of St. James, east-west-south route.

Saint Lawrence was probably born in Spain and died in 258 in Rome. He was a deacon of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The later church built over his grave is one of the seven pilgrimage churches of Rome, demonstrating his exceptional veneration. He is the patron saint of many professions involving open fire, such as firefighters, bakers, brewers, laundresses, and cooks.

In Enns, Lauriacum, Saint Severin also worked (see Passau view Severinsweg).

Chestnut Avenue City Walk:

  • I move on the path and the path moves me. In doing so, I experience the nature of the path with body, mind, and soul and move depending on the circumstances and my own mood.

  • On the Cittaslow route, I pay attention to what moves me today.

Directions:
At the city tower on the main square in Enns, we start the circular hike and go into Linzer Straße. Before the street bends downward, we turn right onto a promenade path. The chestnut avenue we walk through here is a natural monument. At the end of the avenue, we cross Mauthausener Str., pass through the park, and enjoy the view on the Rondeau. Along an avenue, we return to Ennsegg Castle and cross the courtyard. Having reached the other side, we turn left and follow Basteigasse. Via Stiegengasse, we reach the town square again.Tip:
Cultural highlights of the oldest city in Austria are located on the circular route.Safety guidelines:
