Musica Sacra: A Journey of the Heart

When Johann Sebastian Bach set out on foot toward the north in 1705, he was continuing a journey that had been instilled in him from birth through his love of music. He willingly accepted the risk that this might jeopardize his first position in Arnstadt and his reputation. He had to see and hear the great church musician from Lübeck, for whom he had undertaken this journey. As early as 1700, while still a student in Lüneburg, Bach had come into contact with North German church music and its most important representative, Dietrich Buxtehude, and resolved to “listen to” him.

The AMANI Ensemble Linz traces the stages of this journey with selected compositions and embarks on a journey of the heart together with Echo and Opus Klassik Award winner Miriam Feuersinger, one of the leading sopranos in German Baroque sacred music.
