Opera in three acts.
Friedrich Schiller's ballad Die Bürgschaft tells of an extraordinary friendship, of tyranny, life and death. Impressed by the dramatic potential of this material, Franz Schubert began to compose an opera, which he broke off at precisely the key point: will Kostas be executed by the tyrant Dionysius as a guarantor for Damon? How does the highly political opera end for the tyrant, from whom the whole nation suffers? The renowned author and director Paula Fünfeck took on this rarely performed opera fragment together with conductor Anna-Sophie Brüning. Her textual and musical adaptation not only takes Schubert's Bürgschaft to its logical conclusion, but also takes it a step further. First performed as part of the award-winning project Apollo 18! - Musiktheater im Jugendknast, the gripping new version is now coming to Linz.Promenade 39, 4020 Linz
