Between Anatolian tradition and musical voyage of discovery: Ali Doğan Gönültaş tells moving stories of minorities, while Diatonic Expeditions reconnects worlds of sound from folk music to Handel.
Ali Doğan Gönültaş comes from Kiğı, a rural village in the rugged mountains of eastern Anatolia. Born into a Kurdish-Alevi family, music was an essential means of passing on the history of their people. In his songs, Ali Doğan Gönültaş sheds light on the languages and cultures of minorities in Turkey, such as the Kurds and Armenians.
