Family festival in and around St. Mary's Cathedral

On Friday, May 29, 2026, the Christian churches throughout Upper Austria invite you to the Long Night of the Churches. The Mariendom starts its program at 2 p.m. with a large family festival.

From 2 p.m. that afternoon, the cathedral square will become a large open-air studio for children and anyone who wants to get creative. Among other things, a course invites you to have fun with colorful chalk painting, there are creative stations of the Catholic Youth Choir and the popular bouncy church. At 4 p.m., there will be a blessing of children's vehicles on the cathedral square in front of the Rudigier portal, before and after which young visitors are invited to whizz around the cathedral square on scooters, pedal cars, walking bikes or bicycles. The meadow in front of St. Mary's Cathedral will become a picnic zone on this day, with culinary delights on offer.
