With his unmistakable vocal timbre, his poignant and colorful interpretations and his crystal-clear diction, baritone Christian Gerhaher is one of the greatest lieder singers of our time.

Together with pianist Gerold Huber, with whom he has worked since his student days, he returns to the Brucknerhaus with an all-Schumann evening. The focus will be on three groups of works from the so-called 'song year' 1840, the year Robert Schumann and Clara Wieck married. Two later gems are also on the program, including the dark and melancholy 'Lenau Cycle', which deals with themes such as transience and world-weariness.
