Courage for peace - Opening Communale Upper Austria to commemorate the Peasants' War

The communale oö is the largest Upper Austrian festival for contemporary art and culture in rural areas, which takes place every two years in selected communities and makes this place the center of cultural debate.

On Saturday, May 16, 2026 , there will be an ecumenical meeting service with Bishop Manfred Scheuer, Superintendent Gerold Lehner and Pastor Maximilian Pühringer, a walk along the newly installed peace path including a presentation of the art objects in public spaces and a ceremony with Governor Thomas Stelzer.

Start: 4.00 pm in the parish church of Lembach

• Followed by an art presentation (3 ploughs) & "parade" along the newly designed Peace Path to the Alfons Dorfner Hall (event hall)

• Moderated by Günter Madlberger
• Speech by Governor Thomas Stelzer
• Highlights on stage: guests such as Cornelius Obonya ("Jedermann"), Prof. Leidinger (prominent Austrian historian), "living monument"
• Composition by Markus Hofer ("Echoes of the Peasants")
• Theater group Lembach with 2 short scenes
