Schwertberg Community Hiking Day 2026

The event is part of the “Hiking Brings People Together” series. Hiking adventures invite participants to discover the Danube region of Upper Austria together. The focus is on experiencing nature, regional highlights, culinary delights, and exploring the hospitable communities together.

We’ll set off together at 9:00 a.m. —with an official opening and welcome right at the trailhead. That’s also where you’ll find the hiking passport: Anyone who participates in four “Hiking Brings People Together” events can look forward to a surprise prize. After all, exploring together should not only bring people together but also be rewarded.

2026 PARISH HIKING DAY – “Hiking Brings People Together”

A day that combines exercise, enjoyment, music, and camaraderie!
The Schwertberg Tourism Association, together with the Danube Region, invites you to the Community Hiking Day “Hiking Brings People Together.”
Look forward to a scenic hike through the beautiful Schwertberg autumn landscape, cozy rest stops, regional delicacies, music, and plenty of good vibes! 🍁🎶
9:00 a.m. – Start at Schwertberg Park
We’ll kick things off at 9:00 a.m. at Schwertberg Park.
A light breakfast from Hotel Tinschert awaits all hikers at the start.
And of course, in addition to coffee, a genuine “Starter-Seiterl” is a must.
1st Stop – Schwertberg Summer House
From the park, we’ll hike together toward the Schwertberg Summer House.
Here, there’s a special stop for our young hikers —so the kids won’t get bored either!
2nd Stop – Windegg Castle Ruins
We’ll continue through the magnificent Schwertberg autumn landscape to the Windegg Castle Ruins.
This year, we’ll take our lunch break here.
Musical entertainment will be provided by the Schwertberg Music Association and the Bläserkids.
3rd Stop – Lichtenwagner Cultural Center
Just below the Windegg Castle Ruins, the next refreshment station awaits at the Lichtenwagner Cultural Center.
The Red Cross and the Healthy Community initiative will provide hikers with sandwiches and refreshing juices.
And take note: Dancing is allowed!
The Funky Monkey Friends will keep the mood lively with live music.
Along the Windeggerbach Stream
Well-fortified, the hike continues along the idyllic Windeggerbach stream.
4th Stop – “Grasserbauer”
A special culinary stop awaits you at the Grasserbauer—the home of Franz and Margit Trauner.
The local farmers’ association invites you to sample a variety of schnapps and liqueurs.
Afterward, the journey continues in high spirits…
5th Stop – “Bauer am Berg” Photo Spot
At the photo spot at “Bauer am Berg,” it’s time to pull out your camera and capture the moment!
If the weather is nice, a beautiful panoramic view of the Mühlviertel hills awaits you here.
The DOSTE association will provide cold drinks.
Of course, there’s music and a great atmosphere here, too—after all, there’s a reason they say, “Hiking brings people together”!
6th and final stop – Gasthof Geirhofer
To wrap things up, our hiking trail leads to Gasthof Geirhofer.
And by then, we’ll already be “crazy about game”!
Delicious game specialties await all hikers until around 6:00 p. m.
Of course, there’ll be plenty of good vibes and music to round off our day of hiking in a cozy way—🥾 So: Lace up your hiking boots and be sure to join us!
