72 hours without compromise: young people design wall graves in memory of people hardly anyone thinks about. The project ends with a public presentation on October 25.
As part of Austria's largest youth social campaign, 72 Hours Without Compromise, young people will be creating places of remembrance at St. Barbara's Cemetery from October 22 to 25, 2025 - for people who hardly anyone else thinks about. Unused wall graves are available for this purpose.
In small groups, the young people will each work with a group of people for whom they would like to design the places of remembrance. It is important to choose suitable materials and make sure they are weatherproof. The aim is to breathe new life into these quiet places and make them tangible for visitors to the cemetery as places of remembrance, debate and encounter.
The young people are not only responsible for the artistic design of the graves, but also for selecting the themes and preparing the content - for example with background information on the cemetery website.
The St. Barbara Cemetery team accompanies the young people. "72 hours without compromise" is organized by the Catholic Youth Austria in cooperation with youngCaritas and Hitradio Ö3.
