"Art and enjoyment" in the advent Mühlviertel
This is the motto of the Waldhausen Advent from December 6 - 8, 2025.

In the unmistakable ambience of Waldhausen Abbey, you can watch almost forgotten handicrafts such as the last rural beeswax maker in Austria, wood turners, glass blowers, ceramic painters, carpet weavers and a blacksmith demonstrating their skills and purchase real works of art. You are sure to find a Christmas present or two among the handmade Christmas decorations, soaps, candles, textiles, alpaca products and much more.
As you stroll through the lovingly decorated market, you will be accompanied by the sounds of the tower brass band and folk music ensembles on stage to get you in the mood for Advent.
Culinary delicacies from the Mühlviertel such as freshly baked bread, smoked fish, sausages, fried sausages, farmer's doughnuts, Christmas baking, mulled wine and punch are not to be missed.
Visit the nativity scene exhibition in the pavilion and walk along a lovingly designed Advent trail to the nativity scene with life-size carved figures and live animals.
Carriage rides and a program for children make the Advent market a very special experience, even for the little ones.
As a cultural highlight, two concerts take place on Sunday and Monday in the beautiful baroque collegiate church.

An extensive potpourri of pre-Christmas sounds and texts performed by various music groups awaits you.

Monday, 8.12.2025 at 16.00 Concert "Musik zur Weihnacht" with students of the Anton Bruckner Private University Linz.
The concert "Musik zur Weihnacht" on December 8, 4 pm in the Stiftskirche Waldhausen follows a long-standing tradition. This year, singers from the Anton Bruckner Private University will perform J. S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio I - III BWV 248 as the central work.
