In view of the anniversary year "400 Years of Peasants' War", the NordwaldKammerspiele association is staging the mystery play "Peasant, Death and the Devil" in 2024, thematically set between "Everyman" and "Faust".

The Germanist and poet Hans Reinthaler (1900 - 1964) from Offenhausen near Wels wrote the play in rhymed form in 1943.
 
The content is set in a rural milieu, but can confidently be seen as a universal image for the ambivalences of every life and is peppered with deep psychological metaphors.

The annual harvest festival is celebrated on the stately hereditary farm. The old farmer announces the handover of the farm to his son in a festive setting. A travelling
group of jugglers bursts into the touching and festive scene, offering entertainment for a strange fee. The ensuing
destruction of the court clan seems irreversible ...
