A rooster that doesn't crow but sings clearly was the inspiration for the name of the twelve gentlemen of the Chanticleer from San Francisco. The a cappella ensemble has been delighting audiences since it was founded at a kitchen table in California in 1978. Originally specialising in baroque and renaissance music, the repertoire has expanded considerably. Every two years, the ensemble embarks on a world tour, performing in the most beautiful concert halls around the globe and this year will also be making a stop in St. Florian.

Join Chanticleer for a joyous celebration of choral singing: from Renaissance masterpieces to romantic pieces, contemporary commissions, vocal jazz and everything in between. Chanticleer is at home in all genres and presents the best of each art form. The repertoire includes music by William Byrd and Josquin Desprez, classical arrangements of "Shenandoah" and "Calling my children home", settings of jazz standards such as "Blue Skies" and "Stormy weather" as well as contemporary arrangements of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" or "Somebody to Love" by Queen.
