The Gavro Quartet is a music ensemble that has been active since 2023. It was founded by guitarist Tilen Gavranovič, who currently lives in Paris. The quartet bears his stage name.
The group also includes Lenart De Bock on tenor saxophone, Miloš Čolović on double bass and Andreas Reisenhofer on drums. In 2024, the quartet recorded and released its first album entitled Let's Wait and See. The album also features internationally recognized musicians Jim Rotondi (trumpet) and Marko Črnčec (piano) as guests. The album took the band to concerts in various countries, where they also performed with musicians such as Tomaž Gajšt, Gerhard Ornig, Žan Cesar as well as Jim Rotondi and Marko Črnnčec, who are featured on the album. On this tour, the ensemble will be joined by world-famous trumpeter Alex Sipiagin as a guest. He has played with the Gil Evans Orchestra, Gil Goldstein's Zebra Coast Orchestra, the George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band and Bob Moses' Mozamba, among others. He was also a member of the Mingus Big Band, Mingus Dynasty and Mingus Orchestra and played with the Dave Holland Big Band, Sextet and Octet. As a soloist, Sipiagin has released over twenty recordings featuring jazz legends such as Mulgrew Miller and Chris Potter. He has also collaborated with artists such as Michael Brecker, Eric Clapton, Dr. John, Aaron Neville, Elvis Costello, Michael Franks and Dave Sanborn. His work has been recognized with Grammy awards - he has been involved in several award-winning albums, including What Goes Around and Overtime by the Dave Holland Big Band and Wide Angles by Michael Brecker. The ensemble performs original compositions by Tilen Gavranovič inspired by various genres - from traditional and modern jazz to classical and popular music.
