Description:
Your hike starts in the town centre, from here head south-east down Villa Böck Weg and Aignerberg, past "Aigner Kreuz" Pilgrimage Chapel, the trail leads left into Kempbachtal. Here you`ll find a second starting point for the Wolfsschlucht Circuit, Speckalm parking lot. After the bridge turn left into the forest trail, after a few minutes walk you`ll get to the access point to the gorge. This was once home to the "Greiner Duschen" and just above the waterfall the nobility enjoyed Kneipp cures in the "Wiener Wellen Bäder". Many steps lead up the gorge, past the Anton Bruckner refuge narrow paths will lead you to Neptun`s Grotto, once home to the men`s and women`s showers. Further steps will take you to Herzogsquelle Spring, then keep hiking left`s past Jägersitz and explore Kreuzen Castle. We recommemd visiting the castle and enjoying a small snack in the Castle Tavern. From here, follow the road back to Bad Kreuzen again.

Tip:
To make the most of this hike, I recommend hiking the Wolfsschlucht Gorge from top to bottom, this will allow you to enjoy the full splendour of the gorge with its waterfalls. It`s also worth taking a look to the left and right frequently, you may discover a "stone creature" or two. The Wolfsschlucht circuit can be started at 3 points, next to the town centre it`s also possible to set off at the castle or at Speckalm parking lot. My tip for the second Wolfsschlucht hike: it`s also possible to combine the Wolfsschlucht gorge with the Speckalm Trail. To do this, hike to Wolfsschlucht gorge all the way to Herzogsquelle Spring, from here continue straight ahead and after a short while you`ll cross a small bridge on the right, then a romantic forest trail will take you to the popular Speckalmsnack bar (Make sure to book a table)

Safety guidelines:
In the Wolfsschlucht gorge, it is advisable to wear sturdy shoes and be careful, especially when it rains, as the wet steps are very slippery. The Wolfsschlucht is not recommended in winter, if you do want to hike through it, extreme caution is required!
