From Hauptplatz, head uphill towards the Castle Museum. Here, the history of Linz can be traced back to Roman times. The path leads past Martinskirche to the park area, where the Franz-Josef-Warte offers a magnificent panoramic view.
Also notable along the route are the Stupa (Buddhist structure) and the former Jesuit monastery, whose annexes now house the Aloisianum high school.
We top the pizzas with a thin, crispy base with lots of delicious ingredients and bake them in our own stone oven until the edges shine golden brown before we serve them tastefully arranged.
The range includes a wide variety of breads, various types of pastries, the original Kornspitz, Danish pastries and sweet and savory snacks. All specialties are produced in the Raiffeisen Arena's own bakery. The store also sells selected products from the current Adidas lifestyle collection.

The Franz-Josef-Warte was built in 1888 in honor of the 40th anniversary of the office of Emperor Franz Josef. The plans were drawn up by Ignaz Scheck (Upper Austrian Construction Company). In 1912 a porter's apartment was added.

The light fountain is a metal column about 9 meters high. During the day, solar panels absorb solar energy; during the night, the energy is released again in the form of light. The base of the column is designed as a seating area and is intended to "invite people to linger". There was a (water) fountain at the site until the late 1990s, which was eventually removed. The light fountain is to continue the function of this former life-giver.
The small church to the west of Linz Castle stands on ancient cultural ground. Neolithic scattered finds indicate a prehistoric settlement. Remains of wooden and stone buildings have been found from the Roman Lentia period. A Roman oven has been partially preserved and made accessible under the church floor. Roman gravestones are visible in the wall structure.
A document of Charlemagne mentions a chapel of St. Martin in Linz in 799. Numerous archaeological excavations have provided evidence for the reconstruction of a much more spacious central building corresponding to Carolingian royal palaces, whereby the small church can be assumed to be the chapel mentioned in the document. Another opinion assumes that St. Martin's Church is not identical with the church mentioned in 799, but was only built in 955 by Bishop Pilgrim of Passau.
St. Martin's Church can lay claim to being the oldest early medieval sacred building on Austrian soil.
Under Emperor Leopold, the church was baroqueized in the 17th century, used as a stable by the French occupation in 1741, profaned in 1810 and used as a military depot. It was re-consecrated as a church in 1741 and refurbished in neo-Gothic style.
Major renovations were carried out in 1947 and 1975-1977, during which St. Martin's Church was given its current simple artistic form and medieval wall paintings were uncovered.

The archaeological find could be dated to the 18th century. At that time, the baroque bridge led over the city moat.
Today it is fully preserved again, has been restored and integrated into the design of the Landhauspark. Protected by a glass wall, the stone arch bridge and the historic moat can now be visited at any time. Access is via the underground car park of the Promenade.
