Good ideas and craftsmanship, fascinating pictures full of dreamlike fantasies, sculptures worth seeing, masterfully crafted, characterize the artist Peter Klonowski in particular.
In our small, fine coffee shop we serve you coffee specialties, homemade cakes and small, savory dishes.
Our heated outdoor pool with large swimming and children's paddling pool is located right in the centre of the village. The 270 m² pool is divided into a swimming and adventure pool with
air bubble pot
rainbow fountain
massage jets and
a climbing circus.
The pool also has a disabled-accessible entrance.
In addition to a buffet and playground, the outdoor pool also has a new beach volleyball court.
The large sunbathing lawn around the pool offers plenty of sun and shade. There is a car park directly in front of the outdoor pool!
We are a family-friendly inn with 8 guest rooms and a large children's play area.
The flagship is the hospitality and the good cuisine, which is oriented towards the 4 seasons with seasonal products and attaches great importance to fresh products.
The main credo: the best raw materials from the surrounding region.
The chef Artur jun. has cooked in the best restaurants in the country. The menu is varied and of a high standard at rural prices.
Our guest garden is an ideal place to relax in summer and sip light summer wines and refreshing cocktails.
The range of leisure activities is extensive:
Fishing is a big topic in our house in summer. We have our own 4 km long fishing lake. Not only fly fishing is popular with us (distance approx. 1 km), at the following reservoir there are always anglers of all ages.
Hiking & mountain biking in the beautiful hilly landscape of the Mühlviertel, horseback riding, tennis, swimming at the Rannabadesee swimming paradise, etc.
The Kneipp and fitness trail along the Ranna reservoir is an attraction for young and old. You can do something for your health at 6 Kneipp stations. Combined with the fitness trail, you can explore Lake Ranna over a length of up to 6.5 kilometres with Kneipp and fitness stations. Ideal for families, senior citizens and those seeking relaxation.
A total of 16 stations along the 6.5 km nature trail around the Ranna reservoir are available for physical fitness. The exercises are simply described on a total of 32 boards and also illustrated with a figure. From cardiovascular training, strengthening, balance training, stretching and brain gym to the foot adventure world at the tenth station, there is plenty of training for young and old to keep you fit and healthy.
In the middle of the two paths, you cross the so-called "Konzinger Steg" - a small wooden bridge from where you have a picturesque view of the lake and Oberkappel.
If you want to take a short break, you can relax on the numerous benches along the lake trail and enjoy the beautiful nature and the unique panorama of the Rannatal.
Starting from the border crossing to Germany along the Osterbach stream, partly also accessible in winter. Half-day hike in the area with an extremely idyllic section of the route along the Osterbach stream.
It is particularly interesting for children along the stream as well as at the paddock at the Bachwirt.
The Rannatal is a piece of old and unspoiled nature with unwooded screes where moss and lichen overgrew the stones. In this area different block forests can be found: Deciduous forests and spruce forests. Especially the spruces and blueberry bushes have their own appeal as they are light green during spring and become auburn in autumn.
Another nature phenomenon are the block trains that go steeply down from the valley slopes.
Moss and lichen have settled those rocky undergrounds. Due to the gold dust lichen (Chrysothrix chlorina), rocks look quite colourful with their lightening yellow. One can speak about block trains as they are still in motion.
It is not a miracle that the natural jewel with its forests and rocks still appears as an important
refugium for endangered species, such as the green lizard.
The nature reserve is also a habitat for less known animals and plants. Besides, it is one of the best European areal units for different linchen species. Many block trains with silicate rocks are the main characteristics of the Rannatal. Low temperatures in the spaces of those rocks gave some insects the possibility to survive since the last glacial epoch. Next to this, some marshlands have been created after a long time.
Rannatal nearly had to move for a power station but was luckily declared as a nature reserve in 2002. Only two years later, the nature reserve Rannatal was nominated as a Natura 2000 area.
A major attraction in Oberkappel is the Rannasee lake with 20 hectares of water. A paradise for swimming, surfing and paddling enthusiasts with a 120 metre long water slide, boat hire, a beautiful playground and sunbathing lawns.
