Muehltal Cycle Route R 26

Varied cycle path along the Kleine Mühl from Aigen-Schlägl via Obermühl to Ottensheim. Fantastic sections through beautiful, unspoilt nature. Not a circular route!

0 km You start at the market square in Aigen-Schlägl. Follow the R26 cycling signs (Mühltal Cycle Route). Ride toward Schlägl, passing Schlägl Abbey. Go straight through the roundabout in Schlägl and continue on to Natschlag. Ride through the village. In the valley, you’ll join the B127 and cross the railroad tracks. You’ll soon leave the B127 again and head steeply uphill toward Weichsberg. Continue through Kollonödt and Fürling to the Rohrbach-Berg train station.

8.8 km The signposted route leads from the Rohrbach-Berg train station to the town center (you’ll pass right by the VILLA sinnenreich museum). At the station, the over 100-year-old “Aigen” locomotive welcomes you and invites you to take a tour through the history of the Mühlkreisbahn.

14.9 km At the town square (where you can visit the town exhibition or the beautiful St. James’ Church), turn right before the Trinity Column and follow the road straight ahead. 17.7 km Hühnergeschrei. At the edge of town, after the fire station, the tour turns right into the Kleine Mühltal valley along the romantic river. 21.7 km Obermühl. From here, there are two options for continuing your bike tour: Follow the signs for the Danube Cycle Path R1. Keep left and ride through the town.

Option 1:
Here, you’ll ride along the Danube Cycle Path on the left bank to Exlau, Untermühl.

37.3 km In Untermühl , you have the option of taking a ferry to “bypass” the missing section of the bike path. Call the ferry (Untermühl-Kaiserhof-Bremsberg ) using the call button. 46.5 km Faustschlössl, Landshaag.

50.5 km Continue from Feldkirchen to Ottensheim. Take a refreshing dip in the Danube in Feldkirchen before heading to Ottensheim Station. Return via the Mühlkreisbahn.

Option 2:
When crossing via the Obermühl-Kobling ferry (Tel. +43 664 734 933 93), ring the ferry bell! Then continue on the Danube Cycle Path R1 to Aschach and on to Wilhering.

63.0 km Wilhering , take the ferry to Ottensheim. Ride across the market square, pass the church on the right, then continue straight ahead, cross the B127 highway, and you’ll arrive at Ottensheim Station.
