Arboretum of the city of Linz

Linz, Oberösterreich, Österreich

Botanical Garden - Arboretum - Trees and shrubs.

An arboretum is a collection of trees and shrubs from all over the world that are planted in order to gain knowledge about their suitability for use.

The Linz Arboretum is located on the south-western slope of the Freinberg below the Jesuit monastery. It covers an area of approx. 8 hectares and extends around a former listed farm (Thurnermeisterhof), which houses the nursery and tree nursery of the City of Linz's Urban Greenery and Road Maintenance Department. This area is open to the public as a green space and is accessible via paths and rest areas. The arboretum can be reached from the Freinberg bus stop on line 26, the terminus of which is in the area of the transmitter. The 27 and 45 lines from the Ziegeleistraße stop take you to Sternwarteweg and you are already in the center of this facility, where the observatory of the Linz Astronomical Community "Johannes Kepler" is also located.
