Origin and objectives: The Schärding Family and Social Centre has its roots in the 1992 District Family Meeting, where the population expressed the desire for such a meeting centre for families. On the initiative of District Governor Dr Kimberger, the Schärding Social Welfare Association and the Youth Welfare Department, a suitable building was found in 1994 and adapted with funding from the Province of Upper Austria. Under the motto "Focus on the family" and with the key words "Encounter - Advice - Information - Help - Education", a lively programme and offer was created and implemented to support families. Suggestions and ideas come from the population and from the numerous volunteers who also run groups themselves. The participation of the people of the district is an important component; the SHV and the youth welfare service provide the organisational and financial framework structure.
