Designed by the architects Schaffer und Sturm of Linz-Hörsching, the Kubinsaal built in 1997 is named after the artist, Alfred Kubin, who was a native of Schärding. With room for some 300 people, the Kubinsaal is used for a variety of cultural events as well as business functions. As the contract required the architects to include in their plans part of the town‘s medieval fortifications, the old town wall - still without rendering - now serves as a backdrop for the stage.
