The Donausteig ROUTE IV - Strudengau tour
May 1st - October 14th, 2024

450 km hiking adventure in 24 day trips and 40 rounds
125 fabulous rest areas and panoramic viewpoints
In the summer of 2010, a unique offer at the Bavarian-Austrian Danube was created that makes the hiker’s heart beat faster. The Strudengau got its name from the many dangerous whirls (“Strudel”) and shoals. In the past, skippers therefore considered this the most dangerous section of the Danube. Today, the stream is mostly tamed but the scenic, wild and romantic beauty has endured. Here, nature makes an impression with a Klammschlucht (ravine), the Stillensteinklamm (ravine) and formations shaped by weathering.
