Where the Romans Lived

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of ancient Lauriacum and discover life in one of the most important Roman cities on the Danube. Join us on an exciting journey through time and learn how people lived, worked, and went about their daily lives here nearly 2,000 years ago.

Lauriacum had twice as many inhabitants as Enns does today—but where did these people live? Where was the civilian settlement with its forum and market hall featuring underfloor heating? Where were the opulent villas of wealthy merchants and officers? Where did the legionnaires spend their free time? Where were the densely built-up artisan quarters? And where did the Romans bury their dead?

Guided tours are offered daily, year-round.

Inquiries can be processed during the following times:
May 1 through October 31: Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
November 1 through April 30: Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

For groups of 30 or more, the group will be divided between two museum guides.
