The classic Passau - Budapest - Passau cycle cruise with the 4****Sup. MS Primadonna combines an active cycling vacation with a comfortable river cruise along the Danube. Your floating hotel accompanies you on the most beautiful sections of the Danube cycle path - from the Schlögener Schlinge via the Wachau and Vienna to the impressive Danube Bend and the Hungarian capital Budapest. During the day, you cycle through idyllic river landscapes, past baroque towns, vineyards and historic monasteries. In the evening, enjoy relaxation and comfort on board the MS Primadonna with its excellent cuisine and cozy atmosphere. This bike and boat trip combines nature, culture and exercise and is one of the most popular routes along the 600 km stretch of the Danube between Passau and Budapest.Friday, individual arrival
to Passau by train or car. Boarding from 14:30 at the landing stage in Passau Lindau. Transfer from the Donau Touristik private parking lot or Passau main train station to the ship at around 4:30 p.m. Embarkation until around 5:30 p.m. Welcome meal from around 6 p.m. onwards. Depending on the water level, it is possible to take the ship to Passau Old Town for an individual tour of the City of Three Rivers (alternatively by cab; costs approx. €10 per person per way).
Saturday, Schlögener Schlingen - Linz (56 km)Early morning boat trip to Schlögen. After breakfast, handover of rental bikes (if booked). Cycle tour through the unpopulated Engtal valley near Kaiserau to the baroque market town of Aschach and on via Ottensheim to Linz.
Sunday, Tulln - Vienna (31 km)Individual visit to the state garden show in Tulln. Then cycle tour with a view of the foothills of the Vienna Woods to the waltz metropolis of Vienna. Lunch on board. In the afternoon, individual city tour by bike through Vienna (+ 18 km on car-free cycle paths) or optional: guided bike tour (3 hours) or optional: city tour by bus (2 hours). Individual visit to the "Heurigen" near the boat landing stage after dinner.
Monday, Komárno - Esztergom/Štúrovo (56 km)Cycle tour along the Danube cycle path from Komárno (fortress, Europaplatz) past the Roman fort of Kelemantia to Štúrovo. Individual visit to the basilica in Esztergom on request. During dinner, ride through the Danube Bend near Visegrad and from around 21:30 ride through the magnificently illuminated Danube metropolis of Budapest.
Tuesday, cycle tour to Margaret Island (22 km)Optional: morning city tour by bus to the most beautiful sights of Budapest (3 hours). Tips for a cycle tour on car-free paths through the city center to Margaret Island. Optional: guided cycle tour (approx. 3 hours). Active version: cycle tour to the artists' village of Szentendre (55 km round trip). Departure from Budapest in the early evening.
Wednesday, Bratislava and the cultural island of Meulensteen (40 km)Arrival approx. 10 a.m. Optional: Guided city tour through Bratislava (1 hour). Lunch on board. Cycle tour to the cultural island Danubia Meulensteen (individual visit to the museums and gallery). Return to the ship with individual refreshment stops.
Thursday, Wachau (53 km)Cycle tour from Krems (UNESCO World Heritage Site) through the Wachau. Via Dürnstein and Spitz past Melk with a view of the imposing abbey to Marbach.
Friday, journey homeArrival at 9 am in Passau. Bus transfer to the Donau Touristik private parking lot/main train station at around 9:30 am. Disembarkation by 10 a.m. in Passau. If you are leaving by train, we recommend a connection from approx. 12 noon (e.g. ICE 1224 at 12:47 from Passau)
