Day 1 - Individual arrival to Sarmingstein, Sarmingstein-Bad Kreuzen hiking stage approx. 18.6 km, walking time approx. 6 hours.

Arrival to your hiking vacation in Austria. Luggage drop-off for your hiking tour on the Donausteig will take place no later than 9 am at the hotel in Sarmingstein, the starting point for this enjoyable hiking trip. The historic Danube village is located in the steep Danube valley of the Strundengau region at the mouth of the Sarmingbach stream into the Danube. After a completed hike in the Danube Trail, relax in the spacious wellness area of your hotel. Hotel example: Wellness Oasis Aumühle**** in Bad Kreuzen

Day 2 - Bad Kreuzen-Grein Hiking stage approx. 16.6 km, walking time approx. 5 hours

The summit assault on the Wetzlstein - one of the seven Donausteig summits - is on the program of your hiking tour in Upper Austria today! You will hike on this panoramic stage on the Donausteig through the atmospheric hilly landscape of the Aist-Naarn-Kuppenland. The hiking trail in Machland leads over the Wetzlstein to Bad Kreuzen and down along the Danube to Grein. Along the way, you will discover the healing waters of the Wolfsschlucht gorge on your hiking tour. Hotel example: Gasthof zur Traube*** in Grein

Day 3 - Grein-Sarmingstein hiking stage approx. 16.2 km, walking time approx. 6 hours, individual journey home

Today's stage of your hiking vacation along the Danube Trail leads you through the beautiful Danube valley of the Strudengau. Once feared by shipmen because of its treacherous whirlpools, you will enjoy hiking through this exciting piece of Danube history from Grein via St. Nikola to Sarmingstein. There is much to discover on your hiking routes in the Danube valley: Grein as the gateway to the Strudengau, the legendary Stillenstein gorge, the most dangerous water eddies of the entire Danube course, Säbnich Castle as a bulwark in the east. Luggage return in Sarmingstein by 5.30 p.m. at the latest.
