History up close
The town museum is located in the former castle complex. Today, visitors can experience the living conditions of the time up close and personal.
The nine rooms in the Heimathaus Schärding present exhibits from different eras, from the Neolithic Age to the present day. Prehistoric excavation finds bear witness to the early history of settlement, but the exhibition also focuses on mills and navigation on the Inn.
The Heimathaus Schärding also devotes space to various craft guilds, folklore with its superstitions and beliefs and the furnishings in burgher parlors. Masterpieces of Gothic and Baroque carving are the main focus of the exhibition.
A steep staircase takes visitors up to the 2nd floor, where exhibits on the military and martial history of Schärding are on display.
An absolute highlight: our 3D tour, so that you can visit our town museum from the comfort of your own home.
