The Old Palace has served as a much-acclaimed home to two museums since 1962.

The local history museum of the town of Eferding and the princely Starhember family museum invite you to visit.
Since 1962, the Old Castle has served as a much-acclaimed home to two museums. The tour through the museum rooms in the northern part of the castle complex begins with the history of the Starhemberg family. Numerous memorabilia and artefacts provide an insight into the history of an old Austrian noble family and the development of Austria's third oldest city.

In the guild hall, exhibits recall urban life and the Peasants' War. One focus is on the war against the Turks and the defence of Vienna in 1683. A curiosity is the simple table at which Mozart once composed his "Magic Flute". The porcelain room displays cabinets with valuable Chinese, old Viennese and Wedgewood porcelain.
