Barbara Blaha comes to the Meierhof in Klam with her new program "Funkenschwestern" and shares the evening with jazz saxophonist Ulrich Drechsler
AZURE is here! After "Caramel" [2020] and "Chrome" [2021], now AZURE. The musical triplets from Ulrich Drechsler's large, multi-disciplinary music forge LIMINAL ZONE are finally complete.
In search of new forms of expression, work began in 2018 on a club format that would unite all the ideas and inspirations gathered over decades and be completely realizable live. Located on the threshold between electronic club music, trip hop, dancefloor trance, drum'n'bass, jazz blasts and film music. It took almost 5 years to work on AZURE.
An incredible amount of music was written and discarded, new line-ups were tried out and questioned again, experiments were made with a variety of instruments. In a long, intensive creative process, Ulrich developed the idea of music in which all the elements, nuances and sounds come together to form the soundtrack of an imaginary blockbuster. The result is two AZURE formats: the pathetic quintet and the bloodcurdling trio.
Like a force of nature, the AZURE trio enters the stage and claims to define its own personal idea of club sound. A frenzy for the audience. You will dance, discover the infinite and sink into it.
With AZURE, Ulrich is once again trying to consciously and boldly elude all conventional styles and genres. Pigeonholing is alien to him. Just as is the case with the two highly acclaimed sibling projects "Caramel" and "Chrome" in their own individual way.
Tyrolean drummer Raphael Keuschnigg and Viennese bass icon Oliver Steger form the foundation of AZURE. Together they deliver the bloodcurdling, merciless beats and basses that won't let the listener sit still. Ulrich's saxophones lay floating hymns, trance-like rhythms and soundscapes over, under and in between, allowing everything to fuse together. Welcome to AZURE!!!
