The small Kößlbachtal was declared as a nature reserve in 1996. The nature reserve "Kleines Kößbachtal" is a special feature between Passau and Schlögen. The stream has created a V-shaped erosion valley with steep slopes, rocks and subnatural forests. It is possible to hike through this beautiful landscape and to experience it pretty well.
When visiting the nature reserve, you can easily see the varied landscape by hiking on the Mittersteig oder on the Kößlbachweg (look at the signs). In this area plants and animals should develop themselves and live freely from human impacts. Therefore, you are asked to stay on the paths and to not enter the nature reserves!
