Linen or flax refers both to the fiber of the flax plant and the fabric made from it. The Mühlviertel has a long established culture of linen production, linen dyeing, and linen processing. The Mühlviertel linen oil is also highly valued.
On the “Linen Weaver Route” I am accompanied by the following questions:
The “Linen Weaver Route” leads over the marketplace, past the retirement home to the adventure playground. Here begins a wonderful walk downhill through the forest (Seufzerallee) along the Lembach stream to the Bruckwirt inn, which invites you to stop for a break. At the parking lot opposite, continue through the forest to the former Höll mill. Cross the small mill and follow the road to Obermühl. From there the path goes steeply uphill along the Kirchschlägersteig to Haar and via Edt to Lampersdorf (rest area with a view of the Danube). Then continue along a meadow path to Grain, where you can enjoy the beautiful wide view. Via the Mühlholzweg with a beautiful view to the Bohemian Forest, you come back to Lembach.
Tip:Local history museum - presentation of former ways of life and work with a focus on linen production. The museum can only be visited by prior arrangement.

The stations of the cross link the graveyard with Mühlholz hill. The Bohemain Forest and the foothills of the Alps are visible from the hill on clear days.
Weaver Alois Johanniter of Lembach founded this chapel and the stations of the cross in 1844 out of gratitude for his salvaging from a shipping accident. A votive painting in the chapel´s interior depicts the Bavarian steamship named "Ludwig". A marble tablet on the right wall of the chapel commemorates this accident. Two angel statues flank the Golgotha altar, which is at the heart of the chapel.
