In German language. What happened there? Just a few years ago, he was a promising newcomer; today, he’s already one of the most influential voices in German-language pop. When “Schwarzes Schaf” went viral in 2023, it was a preview of Rian’s ability—who also made his breakthrough as a successful comedy influencer—to connect with the zeitgeist in a way that’s both relevant and unembarrassing to the mainstream. In doing so, the young Carinthian singer-songwriter has also found his style: he combines German-language indie pop with clever comedy and always infuses his work with sociopolitical relevance for a good cause. His songs are whimsical gems in the tradition of Kaffkiez, Danger Dan, Antilopen Gang, Falco, Manu Chao, or Jonathan Richman—fun and danceable at first listen, yet deep, (self-)critical, and always empathetic. The path of pop music—from the feet through the heart to the head—has rarely felt so right. With “Verwandtschaftstreffen” in 2024, he achieved his big breakthrough: millions of streams, chart-topping hits, awards, and massive radio airplay made the song one of the defining German-language pop tracks of the year. His debut album “Blumendisko” has since been released and impressively underscores that Rian is more than just a viral sensation—he’s an artist with a clear vision and lasting success. A special highlight is coming up at the end of 2026: With his Christmas show, Rian swaps mulled wine for guitars and delivers what might just be the most charming finale of the live season.
