Photography exhibition with accompanying artist talk.
Dance is often shaped by the expectations of the heterosexual, white, male gaze because it is primarily men who occupy the positions of power in the industry. They produce media that reflects their own desires and ideas. This prevents people from marginalized groups from representing themselves and making other perspectives visible. But what if we gave these groups - for example women, trans, non-binary, BIPoC, fat or asexual and aromantic dancers - the opportunity to decide for themselves how they are shown? In this way, they could challenge existing power structures and norms and make the diversity, beauty and queerness of their bodies and forms of expression visible.
