Musica Sacra: O Oriens!

With the program O Oriens, the Linz Jeunesse Choir invites you to a special musical Christmas atmosphere.

The mysterious "O-Antiphons", which are heard during the vespers liturgy in the seven days before Christmas Eve, take center stage. In impressive imagery, they express expectation, longing and joy about the coming light - the Messiah. "O Oriens" - morning star, radiance of eternal light - is not only the title, but also marks the date of the concert: December 21. A powerful starting point for a multifaceted program in which various musical settings of this antiphon form the thematic focus. This is complemented by new choral settings of well-known Christmas carols, including "Maria durch ein Dornwald ging" in the version by Stefan Claas and John Rutter's arrangement of "Es ist ein Ros entsprungen"
