DONAU.Erlebnis Card holders receive (on selected days) a free guided tour through the late antique Burgus of Oberranna. Registration for the tour must be made up to 48 hours in advance to Ms. Karin Wundsam (+43 676 3324300, tourismus@engelhartszell.ooe.gv.at).
Meeting point for the tour is the entrance to Burgus in Oberranna.

This important border post on the Danube Limes is around 1700 years old and the best-preserved ancient building in Upper Austria. The Danube Limes led as the northern border of the Roman Empire along the Danube from Regensburg to the Black Sea and was part of the approximately 6000 km long Limes around the Mediterranean Sea from Scotland to Morocco. The appointment of the "Roman Danube Limes" with all its archaeological sites as a UNESCO World Heritage Site is expected in the near future.
