Alexander Schimpf

Alexander Schimpf began his career in 2009 with first prize at the Vienna International Beethoven Piano Competition, which he followed up with first prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition in 2011. The German pianist - now a professor at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media - presents a two-part programme: with an Adagio by Wolfgang Amadé Mozart and two Beethoven sonatas, he first pays homage to Viennese classical music before paying tribute to two outstanding Russian composers of the 20th century with works by Alexander Scriabin and the second sonata by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
