A little further along, the bronze "Danube raft" rows at the end of the green area. The route leads downstream over the Greinerbach bridge (on the opposite side you can see a bronze statue of the bridge saint John of Nepomuk), to the Halter cross. From the diagonally opposite parking lot either right via stairs or via Jubiläumstraße to the "Gallery in Granite" with petroglyphs and to the Calvary Church with late baroque wooden figures. Return through the main street to the Historic Main Square with the famous Historic City Theater, Austria's oldest secular theater. From here back down to the Danube and upstream to Esperantoplatz.**Tip:** If you still have time and energy on the way back, be sure to make a detour to Greinburg Castle with its beautiful Renaissance arcade courtyard! (Walking time from the city center about 10 minutes). The castle was built between 1491 and 1495 as one of the first castles in the German-speaking area. There are many impressive banquet rooms to discover here, such as the impressive knights' hall, the castle chapel, the diamond vault, and the Sala Terrena decorated with countless Danube pebbles. It's worth exploring the entire planet path! At exactly a scale of 1:2.8 billion, our entire solar system extends along the Danube quay from the Greinerbach almost to the Danube bridge. The idea and execution come from the Grein physicist Dr. Werner Riegler. To explore the solar system precisely, it’s best to start after the Greinerbach bridge with the sun, which is represented at the beginning with a diameter of half a meter and a detailed description. It continues with Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. After the asteroid belt comes Jupiter, which has had its place opposite the Schörgi confectionery for a year now. Saturn can then be found a bit further away at Esperantoplatz/corner of the campsite. You have to walk or cycle a bit further to Uranus, which is at the end of the wall below the Hofer car park. For Neptune, you then have to continue walking or cycling on the bike path until 50 m before the Danube bridge. Storchenblick Information: Tourismusverband Tel.: +43 (0) 72 68 / 70 55 **Der Klapperstorch zu Gast in Grein** In Machland war der Storch bis 1925 ein eher unbekannter Vogel. Zwischen 1925 und 1935 siedelte sich das erste Storchenpaar im Machland an. Der Weißstorch ist ein Zugvogel, der auf Felsvorsprüngen, Bäumen oder Gebäuden nistet. In Saxen hat er es sich 1964 auf dem Schornstein der Volksschule bequem gemacht. Dieser Horst war bis heute durchgehend besetzt. 2007 errichteten die Weißstörche erstmals in Grein einen Horst auf dem Schornstein der Gärtnerei Luger. Ein Jahr später kam es zu ersten erfolgreichen Brut mit zwei Jungstörchen.
