Short description:
"Feldspar, quartz and mica - they all make me go Eureka!". The trail retraces the history of Neuhauser granite. For centuries, the fine-grained granite has been mined in the region. Skilled stonemasons created countless works of art from granite, and these can be constantly discovered along the way.

- Insider tip
From the sunny Danube village of Untermühl along Grosse Mühl to Partenstein storage powerplant - was Austria`s first fire-tube plant in 1924. The water flows here underground from the reservoir 6 km away. In the visible pressure pipe the water mass rushes with irrepressible force to the turbines. Follow the pipeline trail up to the village to Resi-Lacke natural swimming lake. In the clear waters of the abandoned quarry, people come to cool off on hot days. In the granite village of Plöcking, visitors in the granite world of experience marvel at historic rocks, special geological features and natural rock in Austria`s largest natural rock educational trail with the Arena Granite in a historic quarry. Past Schloss Neuhaus in the nature reserve Schlossberg Neuhaus am Jagasteig down into the Danube Valley. A short detour to the Danube-view chain tower is rewarding.
