Passing the castle and the former walls of the bastion, the path leads along the high ridge of the Donauleithen to the village to the old court square with gallows. From there it continues to the Devil's Church - a very mystical place. Before you descend again in Pühret towards Kramesau, enjoy the magnificent view from Pühretstein.**Tip:** - Explore numerous historic buildings and enjoy the wonderful view of the Danube - Explorations with a delightful stop! Laubmischwälder mit hohem Buchenanteil stellen die potenzielle natürliche Vegetation Mitteleuropas dar, die sich ohne Zutun des Menschen einstellen würde. Ihre ölhaltigen Samen, die Bucheckern, wurden früher zur Schweinemast verwendet und trotz leichter Giftigkeit auch vom Menschen als Nahrung genutzt. Der Buchenwald kommt in den oberen und flachen Hangbereichen vor, und ist oft als Hallenwald ausgebildet, der nur einen schütteren Unterwuchs aus Weißer Hainsimse und anderen prägenden Arten enthält (Hainsimsen-Buchenwald). Diese Wälder machen einen recht imposanten Eindruck. In manchen Bereichen steigt die Buche bis in die Täler herunter und bildet artenreiche Waldmeister-Buchenwälder aus. Wo sich heute die Bastei befindet, stand einst ein prächtiges Schloss.
